WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 17 Catholic University field hockey team fell to No. 3 The College of New Jersey, 6 in nonconference play on the road Saturday.
TCNJ (1-0) scored first with 12:03 remaining in the first half to take a 1-0 lead before adding one more to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
Senior Hannah Schied led the team with three shots, and sophomore Meghan Shallow had two shots on goal. Sophomore goalie Kim McGroary made 11 saves for the Cardinals, while junior Nicole Tsiaras added two defensive saves.
Catholic returns to the field on Wednesday, September 5 against Gettysburg at 4 p.m.
