WASHINGTON D.C.- The Catholic University field hockey team advanced to 4-0 in the Landmark Conference with a 4-0 win over Goucher on Wednesday.
Catholic had a strong first half performance outshooting the Gophers 13-0. Shallow scored the first goal for the Cardinals as she redirected a shot by Cancelmo 25 minutes into the game. Catholic then took a 2-0 lead with four minutes left in the half thanks to a great individual effort by Anderson as she beat two defenders to score for Cards.
The Cardinals did not slow down. They continued to outshoot Goucher with an impressive 18 shots to their three in the second half. Schied scored 10 minutes in from a pass across the goal from Murphy. Anderson then tallied her second goal of the game just four minutes later off of a rebounded shot by senior Graceton Griffith to take a 4-0 lead.
Junior Nicole Tsiaras recorded a defensive save for the Cards.
Catholic returns to the field on Saturday, October 13 as they travel to Juniata for a 1 p.m. game.
