Cardinals' 11 Personal Records Highlight Larry Sharp Invitational

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Catholic University men's indoor track and field team set almost a dozen personal bests at the Larry Sharp Memorial Invitational, hosted by Hagerstown Community College, on Sunday.

Senior Peter Binck, sophomore Mike Dreitlein, and freshman Patrick Maxwell paced the Cardinals on the Sunday meet that gave some an opportunity to rest up before the last couple weeks heading into Landmark Championships. Binck won the 500m with a time of 1:10.19, while freshman Joseph Paluso (1:19.95) followed to finish fourth.

Maxwell took third place in the 300m with a 38.22 time, setting a school record. The time was also good for 8th all-time in Landmark Conference history. Dreitlein placed second in the 55m hurdles by just 0.01 seconds with an 8.35 time. That mark puts him 2nd in school history in the 55m hurdles event.

The freshman duo Paul Gillett (5:11.25) and Thomas Macyko (5:27.17) finished third and fourth respsectively in the mile event. In the pole vault events, junior Dillon Frawley finished second clearing 3.65m, and freshman Luke LaRosa finished third, tying his PR of 3.35m.

Junior Ryan Schodowski made it into the finals for shot put with a season PR of 10.10m. Sophomore Tim O'Brien took third in the weight throw with a 9.30m toss.

"The men had a solid day. We used this week as an off week for some but we still managed a school record by freshman Patrick Maxwell in the 300m and an event winner for Pete Binck in the 500m," said Director Steve Rahn. "Mike Dreitlein also had a great day in the hurdles placing second by only 0.01 seconds. Overall, the men finished with 11 PRs and are looking great heading into the last two weeks before conference champs."

The Cardinals will compete against conference competition next Saturday, February 16 at the Susquehanna Invitational.
