TOWSON, Md. - Senior Kiera Lyons was selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week after a strong showing at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason this past Saturday.
Lyons had an impressive meet running a career best, 10:40.01 in the women's 3000m to place fourth among Division I competitors. She also recorded a time of 5:20.88 in the mile run, placing her in seventh and falling just 3.1 seconds behind her career best that was set at the Patriot Games one year ago.
"Kiera had another great meet this past weekend," said Director Steve Rahn. "Her training is going as well as it can right now but she has really grown over the past two meets with her mental preparation and strategy going into her races. Although she had tough practices over the past two weeks, her times are steadily dropping which is a great indicator for peaking at the end of the season."
Lyons will look to continue her success on the track when Catholic heads to the DIII Invitational hosted by NYU on Friday.
