Cardinals Have Strong Performance at SU Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Catholic University women's track and field team had another strong performance today at the SU Invitational, hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday.

The Cardinals were led by senior Andrea Galeano who recorded two top-10 finishes in the weight throw and shot put. The senior placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.74m, then followed with a 10.90m personal record to place eighth in the shot put.

On the track, senior Kiera Lyons placed third in the mile run with a time of 5:28.60. Sophomore Paige Wilderotter followed just behind with a sixth-place finish (5:39.31). Freshman Hannah Marino was the final Cardinal to cross the finish line with a 10th place finish. Marino also finished sixth in the 3000m with a time of 11:19.26.

Junior Grace Boras had a big day for the Cards, placing fifth in the 400m (1:04.45) and finishing seventh in the 200m (28.62). The women's 4x200m relay team of all freshmen in Jillian Walter, Abigail Walter, Anna Walcutt and Vene Richardson-Powell finished ninth with a time of 1:57.31.

"The women had one last successful meet heading into champs next week," said Director Steve Rahn. "Big performances from Galeano, Marino, Boras and a PR from senior Rebecca Johnson."

Catholic will return to action next Saturday, February 22 at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships.
