TOWSON, Md. - After the conclusion of the fall sports season, Catholic University finds itself in fourth place in the Landmark Conference President's Trophy standings.
The Trophy is awarded based on a formula that rewards institutions for regular season conference standings as well as results in Landmark postseason competition. The point structure was revised in the summer of 2016 with different point hierarchies for team and individual sports, but the maximum number of points any team can earn is 15. The total number of points each institution earns is divided by the number of Landmark sports sponsored to determine the average.
The Cardinals averaged 7.17 points, just 0.08 behind Susquehanna in third place. Elizabethtown is currently in first place with an average of 10.50 points while Scranton is second at 9.50 points.
Men's soccer finished with an undefeated conference record to earn 10 points and added an additional five bonus points for winning the conference title. Field Hockey earned nine points for finishing second in the regular season while earning an additional point for its postseason appearance. Women's soccer earned six regular-season points, plus a seventh for advancing to the conference tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
Since its inception in 2007-08, Catholic has been awarded the Landmark Conference President's Trophy twice in 2012-13 and 2014-15.
