WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team defeated Moravian 3-0 in Landmark Conference play on Saturday.
Catholic had an impressive performance outshooting the Greyhounds 22-0 on Senior Day. The seniors had a dominate showing combining for 10 of the team's shots. Senior Graceton Griffith led the way recording two of the three goals for the Cardinals, while senior Hannah Schied added an assist.
Griffith scored just two minutes into the game from a rebound off of her own shot to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Meghan Shallow then put the Cards up 2-0 with a shot from the left post assisted by junior Katie Anderson. Griffith responded less than two minutes later with her second goal of the game from a Schied pass across the circle to give Catholic a 3-0 at the end of the first half.
The Cards continued to control the game through the second half and secured their sixth Landmark Conference win of the season.
Catholic returns to Cardinal Stadium on Sunday, October 21 against Christopher Newport at 3 p.m.
