Roselle named All American

WASHINGTON --- Senior Stephanie Roselle (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was named a Third-Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

"This is a fantastic honor for Steph and the Catholic University field hockey program," Coach Gia Fenoglio Cillizza said. "She has performed at a very high level since she first arrived on campus."

Roselle joins former Cardinal Andrea Snyder in earning All-American honors as the only two players in the program's history to be named to the distinguished teams. Snyder was a third-team selection in 2001.

This season, Roselle was also a First-Team All-South Region pick and a First-Team All-Capital Athletic Conference selection after leading the rugged CAC with 15 goals and five game-winning goals.

During her career at Catholic, Roselle has garnered numerous awards including an unprecedented Second-Team All-Regional and Second-Team All-CAC selection, as well as team co-rookie of the year as a freshman in 1999. (Roselle was a medical redshirt in 2002). As a junior, she was also a Second-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-CAC pick and led the team in goals. That year, the Cardinals had one of their best seasons in history, posting a 16-4 mark and finishing second in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships.

Roselle has career totals of 50 goals and 16 assists and has earned Academic All-American honors each year.

"Steph is truly deserving of this prestigious honor," Coach Cillizza said. "She is hard working, speedy, skilled, extremely aggressive -- and the toughest player I've ever coached or played with. I have no doubt she will continue her winning ways in whatever she does throughout her life."
