TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University women's basketball senior Sydney Poindexter was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on Monday after totaling 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Cardinals posted a 72-65 road win over Haverford last week.
This is the second weekly honor for Poindexter and the first for the Cardinals this season. She also earned athlete of the week honors on Jan. 21, 2019.
Poindexter totaled her third double in the last four games, averaging 16.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game over that stretch. She scored 12 of Catholic's 24 points in the second quarter as the Cardinals led by 19 at the half, 48-29.
The defending Centennial Conference champions entered the game ranked fourth in Division III, allowing opponents a mere 41.4 points per game.
Catholic (7-0) led for almost 38 minutes against the Fords who entered the game receiving votes in the latest d3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. Haverford lost for just the eighth time in its last 38 games at home dating back to the 2016-17 season.
The Cardinals open a five-game homestand on Tuesday against former Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) rival Salisbury. Tipoff is at 6 p.m., inside the DuFour Center.
