WASHINGTON, D.C. - On a day where she was honored with her fellow teammates, Catholic University women's basketball senior Sydney Poindexter totaled 19 points and 11 rebounds in an 82-64 victory over Susquehanna Saturday at Franny Murray Court.
The Cardinals (19-4, 10-2 LC) won their sixth-straight home game and moved one win closer to their second 20-win season in the last four years.
Poindexter posted her sixth double double of the season and the ninth of her career.
The Cardinals jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first three-and-a-half minutes and never trailed, leading for all but 1:11 when the game was scoreless.
The Cards scored 23 of the first 25 points and led 23-8 after the first quarter, totaling 14 points off turnovers.
Johnson totaled 11 of her 15 points in the second quarter where she was 4-of-4 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from three-point range. Sophomore Maggie Bednarek added six points hitting two of her three three-point attempts.
The 5-11 forward is now 9-for-15 from three-point range this season.
Poindexter added 12 points and seven rebounds in the second half as Catholic never led its lead slip below 13 over the final 20 minutes.
Bednarek finished with nine points and three rebounds while freshman Rachel Bussanich added six points and six rebounds.
The Cardinals host Goucher in their final regular season home game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Poindexter scored a game-high 21 points as Catholic posted a 77-54 road win over the Gophers on January 29.
