Cardinals Earn Team Academic Award Seventh-Straight Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University women's soccer team was named as a 2017-18 College Team Academic Award winner on Thursday by the United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Cardinals, who boasted a 3.51 grade point average during the 2017-18 academic year, received the award for the seventh-straight year and for the ninth time in the last 10.

A total of 778 college soccer teams, including 487 women, posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Seven members of last year's squad, who were also named to the 2017 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, are back for this season, including juniors Bella Bertoncini, Grace Boras, Sarah Brush, Mackenzie Earley, Elizabeth Johnson, Daniella Montesano and Reagan Sharkey.

Catholic returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Susquehanna for a Landmark Conference contest that begins at 4 p.m.
