CUA upends York 5-4 to close out home fall schedule

WASHINGTON – CUA closed out its fall home schedule on Monday with an impressive 5-4 win over York at the CUA Tennis Courts. Caitlin Porter, Isabel Tanco and Amanda Pellegrino picked up wins in singles action for the Cardinals, while Porter and Elaina Sceusa along with Pellegrino and Allison Tontz earned doubles wins.

CUA dropped the first and second singles matches with Sceusa falling 7-5, 7-6 at the first flight and Ritamarie Holden losing 6-0, 6-4 at the second flight.

Porter got the Cardinals on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Megan McCullin at third singles and Tanco followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory vs. Samantha Brenner at fourth singles.

Arcondia Vlahos upended CUA's Emma Needham 6-4, 6-3 at the fifth flight before Pellegrino earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nicole Olsen at the sixth flight.

Holden and Tanco fell 8-3 to Acker and Brenner at first doubles, but CUA won the next two matches, including an 8-4 win by Porter and Sceusa and an 8-2 victory by Pellegrino and Tontz.
