TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic University women's tennis team was picked to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday.
The Cardinals received 22 points, just two behind fifth-place Drew.
Defending champion Moravian was picked to win its fifth overall conference championship, receiving 68 points and six first-place votes. Scranton, who has also won the four league titles, came in second with 60 points and two first-place votes.
Three-time champion Elizabethtown was picked third with 40 points while Goucher was just two points behind in fourth.
Drew captured its first championship in 2010 and is looking to return to the conference tournament for the first time since 2017.
Catholic has advanced to the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Championship in five of the last seven years, appearing in the title match in 2014.
Susquehanna was picked seventh while Juniata was eighth.
Catholic opens its spring season on Friday, Feb. 21 at Salisbury and makes its home debut on Saturday, April 1 against Goucher.
The Cards are led by the trio of sophomore Brooke Simonson, junior Colleen McLaughlin and junior Grace Connell at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Entering the spring, Simonson owns a career record of 11-9 while McLaughlin is 14-13 and Connell is 19-15.
